It is a kind of argillaceous sedimentary rocks with uniform structure and exquisite texture. It's a sort of hard dense rock, the fracture looks conchatus, and sounds gong when it's being knocked on. It appears glass gloss, the high glossness is up to 85 degrees -125 degrees, pure shiny black lightening is able to perform specular reflection which means the optical effect is particularly strong. Its neat color appears either ink black, purple black, or black background with white fine pin textures. Use it with white or red material will present a even more lively effect. It's massive structure, different distribution of mineral grains are very uniform which bring it on a symmetrical tinge and a strong orebody feel. All of the properties make it one of the most valuable material to fit solemn occasion, especially memorial hall and cemetery.

Because Taichang Black is up to 7 degrees hardness, and it resist acid,alkali corrosion, so that if it will be used to decorate walls and floors afther polishing finished, could maintain the luster for long, long time.
